From the early years I started collecting coins and banknotes.
Growing up in Bondi in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs was the pinnacle of any kids dreams, going to school, coming home and going straight to the beach for a swim or a surf.
After school, I started working for my father doing an apprenticeship in Carpentry later moving in to the building trade. In late 1989 there appeared to be a building slump, not much work, we were knocking off at lunch and often sit in a pub after that. I was always receiving a full wage, but what I didn’t know was my father was paying my wage from his savings. When I found this out, I went straight on the offensive and told him that it isn’t right in what he was doing, so I decided to join the Army.
30 years has passed and I don’t regret a single thing, maybe some of the retarded officers we had back then.
I spent most of my 30 years in Artillery before having to Corps transfer to another trade due to injuries sustained in Artillery or I was going to be medically discharged.
